The Purge: Anarchy is the second installation of The Purge franchise. The Purge: Anarchy is an American horror/thriller movie and is a sequel to 2013’s The Purge. The Purge is about a once in a year event that allows people to commit any kind of crime without the intervention of the authorities.
The movie featured stars including Frank Grillo, Zach Gilford, Carmen Ejogo, Michael K. Williams, and Kiele Sanchez. The Purge: Anarchy was released in July 2014. One of the main protagonists in this movie is Sergeant Leo Barnes and Frank Grillo played that role.
A few months before the events of Anarchy, Warren Grass was driving drunk and killed the son of Leo Barnes – Nicholas. He was charged with driving under influence but was acquitted on legal technicalities. Nicholas’ father, Barnes, seeks revenge for his son’s death. The only way he could revenge the death of his son and go free is to come up with a plan to do it on the next annual purge.
In the next purge, Barnes decided to go after Warren but his wife advised him not to. However, he ignored her advice and went eventually. He finally made it to Warren’s house an hour before the end of the annual Purge. He threatened Warren and his wife after telling them the story of his son’s death. He later forgives them but was shot dead by Big Daddy when exiting the home of Warren.
The Purge is a horror-thriller series and the Purge: Anarchy is the second installation. The movie is staged in America where a sanctioned 12-hour timeframe is set in place to allow people to commit any illegal activity. All illegal activities in that timeframe are legal. Anarchy is the first movie of this series where fans saw the most devastation that the Purge can wreak.
