How to dress like Pippi Longstocking for Cosplay and Halloween

Pippi Longstocking is one of the oldest characters in many movies, books, and TV shows. This character has been around for a very long time and has been the star in several movies. She started as a story that Astrid Lindgren, a Swedish author, told to her young daughter. Over the years, she developed into the favorite character of many kids across the globe. In the first movie adaptation of this story, Actress Ingrid Nilsson played the role of Pippi.

The movie is about a very strong redheaded little girl – Pippi – who moves into her dad’s cottage Villa Villekulla and adventures with her next-door neighbors Annika and Tommy. With the help of her friends, she ventures to the South Pacific Island, Port Piluse, to rescue her dad who was captured by ruthless pirates.

The dress-style of Pippi Longstocking is colorful, wild, and brighter than most costumes you have ever seen. Pippi was raised by only her dad and let loose to run wild, and this had an impact on her outfits and personality. She is not afraid to put on different patterns or mismatch socks. She also likes wearing clashing bright colors; it has become a part of her personality and character.

Pippi’s typical outfit would be a pinafore dress, boots, T-shirt, and of course long stockings. Most times, you will find a pirate hat on her, which she wears in memory of her father. She also has two pigtails sticking out the side of her head, making her outfits unique and special.
